We run igfest because we love Street Games.

This is the first year of the festival so were still small and friendly, but we're going to start here and grow into something really special. We believe that Bristol has the opportunity to be an innovator and a world leader in this new sector

Thank you:

The Festival Team: Helen Bentley, Genevieve Browne, Sharon Clark, Simon Evans, Louise Gardener, Simon Johnson, Ed Mitchell, Ed Rapley, Clare Reddington, Emma Scott, Duncan Speakman, Helen Stephens and Richard Wilson.

igfest has been made possible by the fantastic help and support of iShed, The Pervasive Media Studio and Watershed.

Special thanks also go to The Arnolfini, Bristol City Council, The Bristol Festival, HP Labs and the South West Regional Development Agency, to G39 for the vinyl donation. And to all of the games designers for bringing such fantastic games to the festival and to all the volunteers who have helped run the games and events.

Biogs:

Simon Johnson: Lead Mechanic
I make and play games with people, lots of people. I set up and run iglab, the interesting games lab as a way to propagate some of the great games i'd seen and played. With my business partner Simon Evans I run Simon our games company. We design and build bespoke pervasive games that connect people and places in interesting and intelligent ways. I'm interested in the what games can do for people, what freedom/ opportunities does a game afford and how can we best use that. Otherwise I like the outdoors best and when my computer's not looking I go camping, cycling touring and foraging around in all that lovely undergrowth.

Clare Reddington: Dame
Director, iShed and the Pervasive Media Studio
I have worked with Watershed for five years, delivering projects like SE3D, Media Sandbox and Light Up Bristol, bringing together new technology and the creative industries. Before joining Watershed, I organised the Cheltenham Festival of Science. I am rubbish at console games and very good at cheating.

Helen Stephens: Queen Bee
I've been asked to get involved with igfest to help with the festival set-up. My background is not in digital media, but in event and project management. The sort of events that I've been involved in coordinating and delivering over the last five years have been for the purposes of corporate training, in the field of behavioural training – so gaming in public spaces will be a really interesting new slant for me on learning about how people like to behave when they play; bring it on!!

Simon Evans: Pimp
I use game play to engage audiences in unlikely situations, smuggling philosophy into people's heads as fun. I currently want people to experience the English countryside as a wilderness. To this end I will be setting off from where I live in the Forest of Dean dressed as a moose to make my way, on hoof, to igfest. Please come hunt me down. Along with Johnson I am a partner in street games company Simon and co-authored The Comfort Of Strangers, a game we have taken to Hide & Seek in New York and Come out & Play, London. I was recently informed that the Crown Prince of Norway is my doppleganger. I have not yet worked out how to use this to my advantage.

Duncan Speakman: Glue Gunner
I'm a Bristol based artist who creates work that physically and emotionally engages audiences in public spaces. I employ walking as both a process and/or outcome in the work. In recent years I have created pre-recorded audio walks, generative GPS-based experiences, live performance using locative media content, and games for public spaces.
Documentation of my work can be found at http://duncanspeakman.net

Ed Rapley: Glue Gunner
Performer and web-monkey. I like to play around on stage, with Drupal based websites and in the streets of whatever city I find myself in (usually Bristol). One day I hope to become rich and famous, in an ideal world this would not involves either riches or fame.

Richard Wilson: Mobile/Game Designer/Developer

Ed Mitchell: Glue Gunner
I design and facilitate work events for groups of people with stuff to get done. I also facilitates online communities for membership associations, charities and other organisations like that. When the computer gets too much, I put up marquees for a change. I like to climb, camp, read fiction and grow vegetables.

Nico Boritch: Entertainment
Together with Joanie I run Anti Vj our visual label.
